Melody was on her tour de gym leaders during this tournament and actually got into contact with Zac Ramsay for a tag team battle! She had some people approach her asking for an underwater tag team battle and Melody didn't know anyone better than zac for traversing such a unique biome! He seemed pretty eager to accept which was good cause Melody NEVER got sick of swimming underwater. Once he approached he's spot melody in her wet suit and she'd eagerly wave to him and run up to give him a big ol squeeze! [break][break]

"Hey zac! Thank's for lending me some time for this battle! I'm really eager to see you show your stuff since I've never seen you battle before. You better not let me down hehe." she said stretching her arms over her head and leaning on one leg casually with a big smiling grin on her face.

"I wouldn't dream of letting you down!" Zac laughed, giving Melody a wink and a can of Charja-Cola. He offered cans to their opponents too, Jergmathy and Bethesda. Jerg accepted, but Beth just flicked her hair contemptuously.
"So where are we battling today? Out there?" Zac asked, pointing to a clear, sunny patch of coral reef about 100m off the coast, "or are we swimming out to Widow's Howl?" Zac gestured the other direction, to where a jagged ship graveyard poked just out of the waters at the far end of the bay. Even to the untrained eye the waters were rife with whirlpools, rip tides, and somehow a thunderstorm was brewing on the horizon.
"Your call," Zac said, taking off his Alolan shirt and putting on a healthy layer of SPF 100 sunscreen. "I'm just excited to be out for a swim."

The two random bystanders kinda just shrugged when Zac named two different locations to go to. Melody went into deep thought, the graveyard did seem like some good terrain for a battle so. "Let's go to the ship graveyard! I bet it'll be fun to battle there!" she said as she released her gardevoir who managed to teleport them all to the area that Zac was talking about [break][break]

After some time they managed to reach the spot zac was talking about and Melody was ready to go! "You ready zac?" she said with a small grin as the two gym leaders were going to have to give it their all during this match! [break][break]

"Go! Lapras!" she says as she threw her lara's pokeball out and dove under the water with her scuba gear. The two random trainers who were with them threw out their own pokeballs, the first one a boy threw out a feraligator and the next one someone she assumed was his girlfriend, tossed out a wailord? [break][break]

OH FUCK A WAILORD. The pokemon slammed down onto the water and sent melody spinning around in the water, she recovered quickly but she was going to need to have a word with that trainer about the dangers of throwing a pokemon like that all willy nilly!

"Who are you gonna use zac?" she asks, curious about who he brought with him for this underwater battle.

"I'm gonna use ... Exeggutor! Sneg! I choose you!" Zac shouted, as he tossed his Pokeball into the ocean. It disappeared under the dark waves, and a tufted green head appeared above the waterline. It looked around, taking in the battlers with its many coconut heads. "Sneg doesn't need to worry about breathing underwater," Zac explained with a laugh, "he can just walk on the bottom!"

Sneg's blank eyes followed the drifting body of the massive Wailord. The huge whale floated closer and closer, until it seemed like it would hit the Exeggutor. "That Wailord looks like a tanky fella Sneg! We're in for a long battle. Use Leech Seed!" Zac suggested. But Sneg was too worried about being smothered by the approaching leviathan. With a low moan of worry, Sneg pulled his head back and whipping it forward into Wailord, smacking it with a concussive Wood Hammer.

The sea giant's blubbery body distended, springing back into shape and bouncing away across the water like a thrown rock. Sneg let out a sigh, now secure in his personal space.

Meanwhile, Feraligatr had disappeared under the murky water, swimming silently through the shadows of the sunken ships. The powerful predator circled Lapras and Exeggutor, before emerging underneath Lapras in a flurry of jaws and claws!

An alolan exeggutor huh? An interesting choice for an underwater battle, but technically it's body was IN the water...did...did this count? The referee that Gardevoir teleported over to this area didn't seem to mind it all that much so neither would melody! Fuck it! Melody loved this kinda stuff, zac was super creative huh? However a lot of it's luster was lost for melody when the sneg didn't obey zac "He's a rebel huh?" she asked him oh gosh this battle was gonna be a bit more difficult than she predicted. [break][break]

He was so creative that melody lost her focus and feraligator managed to sneak up on her and lapras and get a sucker punch (or thrash? idfk u decide) in on lapras from underneath where her soft underbelly was. She let out a small yelp and Melody issued out her first orders for lapras "Lapras! Get him away from you with a hyper voice!" she said as she covered her own ears as Lapras's song was always a deadly one [break][break]

She released a super sonic screech aimed at both the wailord and feraligator as the attack found it's mark, however wailord seemingly was the one who counter attacked, but instead of going for lapras aimed at sneg instead since it was nailed with a super effective wood hammer first. Waillord aimed it's blowhole towards sneg and fired off a brine attack at the long pole pokemon. "Ooo zac watch out!" she warned him

Zac gave the judge a wink and covert thumbs up, glad he had paid the man off with a carton of the new Kyle Krush earlier that morning. That sponsorship deal with kyle lopez was already paying dividends. "Don't worry Melody, Sneg's got this!" Zac shouted. His complete faith paid off as the Exeggutor slammed its head down onto the empty ocean, submerging itself like an overambitious drinky bird and dodging the Brine attack complete.

"Ha! Easy! Now get him on the upswing!" Zac called, and his Exeggutor stomped forward a few steps. Its bulky feet stirred up silt and disturbed a few bright red and yellow fish, but in moments it was underneath Wailord. "Now!" Zac shouted. Whether or not Sneg heard him wasn't important. What was important was that Sneg launched a perfectly timed reverse-Wood Hammer that struck Wailord from underneath, sending the oversized beach-ball flying sky high!

Meanwhile, Feraligatr was confused, and lashed out with a misplaced ice fang! Chill chunks spread through the water, clouding it and impeding movement. Exeggutor squinted down into the coral as the dark shape of the crocodile swam around the sunken wrecks, readying another surprise attack on Lapras.

Zac shaded his eyes with one hand, trying to spot the Wailord among the backdrop of the sky. "One down, three to go," Zac said, as Beth sent out her second Pokemon. The bright yellow and blue marking of a Grapploct sent a chill down Zac's broad spine. Before Exeggutor could take a stomp backwards the octopus was upon him, tentacles writhing with malicious power.

Lapras who was still stuck in the air from her hyper voice sustaining her altitude looked over and saw a Grappoloct attacking zac's snegg! Oh no! What kind of partner would she be if she sat idley and let this happen? A BAD ONE THAT'S WHAT. So naturally her and Lapras being in perfect sync with one another timed their movements perfectly "Lapras! Drill run that grapploct and give snegg some room!" as Lapras used her downward momentum from falling and spun her body as she began to look like a drill aimed right towards the scrappy octopus. [break][break]

However she worried about that feraligator, he was able to get some sneak attacks in on Lapras before "Lapras keep an eye out for that sneaky gator!" she shouts as with the almost perfect comedic timing feraligator leapt out of the water and surprised lapras again who was still recovering from that drill run.

[break][break] "Ugh that thing is so annoying!" she said wanting to stomp her foot out of annoyance, of course he took advantage of the fact that Lapras couldn't look beneath her with such a long neck. "Got any ideas on how to handle it? I could use freeze dry.." she whispered to zac wondering what the more experienced gym leader had in mind

Lapras' Drill Run spiraled towards Grapploct, but at the last second the octopus shifted its body so that Melody's attack hit Sneg instead! Grapploct kicked off Sneg, launching itself into a nearby bed of kelp.

Like a woodpecker drilling into a lush, coastal pine, the chattering, rat-a-tat gunfire carried through the water. Zac could hear it clearly from above the waves, and he watched Sneg's head shake from the impact. "That's one slippery cephalopod!" Zac swore, "but don't worry. I've got a plan! Sneg! Giga Drain!"

Sneg's battered body turned towards the kelp bed where Grapploct was hiding, and a stream of chunky, luminous particles tore out of the greenery and flowed towards Sneg. The wounds on his trunk closed.

Two shadowy forms fled the kelp. "There! Melody! Okay I've got a plan. Blast 'em with Freeze Dry and force them to hide in one of the ships," Zac said, "and when they think they're safe inside we-" he whispered the rest of his plan to Melody, far from any prying ears.

No no no no! NOT GOOD BOY SNEG! Melody died a little inside when she saw her Lapras dug into sneg's bark and the pair got knocked around. She got annoyed at this damn octopus but had no idea how to proceed with these pokemon who were so much faster than hers. But it seemed while she was lost, a light shined down on this battle in form of zav's beautiful big brain.

zac was a man of many talents, but one of melody's favorite talents of his was how Zac was so creative! She loved his plan so far so she eagerly nodded to show she was onboard with it. "Gotcha! Leave it to me! Lapras lets give them a beautiful freeze dry of the century! Allegro!" she orders as Lapras blasts several rays of freeze dry. The opponents had to have their pokemon move strangely as lapras continued to fire at their feet/fins/tentacles, whatever you wanted to call it, to keep them off balance. [break][break]

Eventually Lapras managed to force them to take cover inside of the ship. "Now zac!" she shouts.

"Nice one Melody!" Zac called across the water. Below them, the enemy Feraligatr and Grapploct had taken refuge in the metal wreck. Now it was time to seal them inside.

Sneg lumbered forward, his dinosaur feet stomping slowly along the sandy bottom. He reached the ship, and his heads took on a harsh, metallic sheen. "Sneg! Close off the exits!" Zac shouted, and the Pokemon slammed its head underwater. The mess of fronds and coconut heads sunk like a dropped anvil, slamming into the metal of the ship and warping it brutally. Doors and windows were caved in, and the underwater habitat was pummeled into a tin can prison. Zac could hear dull clanging from inside as Feraligatr slammed against one of the bent exits.

"They're stuck inside! Nice work Sneg! Melody, it's all you mate. Use Thunderbolt!"

Sneg used Iron Head on the ship
He sealed off all the exits, trapping Feraligatr and Grapploct inside

Yes! It worked like a charm! Zac had a wonderful idea of cutting off their movement by using the ice to corner them and once they were cornered Sneg would make their death cage by using the boat to trap them! A fitting combo worthy of the gym leader known for biome usage. Now it was for Melody's part of this duet! [break][break]

She was going to show them why having the perfect partner for a battle was uber important! "Lapras! Let's giving them a beautiful finale!" She says as she stricks a pose in the water. "Thundering trap! Thunderbolt!" she calls out the name of their "combo" move as Lapras channels electric energy on it's body and zaps the ship where the two pokemon were stuck [break][break]

Lapras shocks the pokemon within the ship, knocking out the feraligator and paralyzing the Grapploct inside.

"Hell yeah!" Zac said to Melody, shouting to be heard over the crackle and boom of her Lapras' lightning. Sparks danced across the water, fading into light on the waves. "That was one satisfying lightshow!"

But the lights had only begun. Melody's lighting had just broken the seal on the brewing storm, and overhead wicked bolts cracked and crashed. "We better wrap this up quick," Zac said, making himself as small as possible. Thirty feet away, a bolt blasted one of the semi-submerged wrecks. Sneg flinched, looking around in worry. It was bad enough being the tallest tree in a storm, let alone the only tree in a sea storm!

Sneg's beating of the boat had sealed the entrances, but had smashed some smaller holes in the hull. Given half a distraction, Grapploct squeezed out, and camouflaged among the seaweed, working the paralysis out of his arms.

Meanwhile, Bethesda sent out her second Pokemon: Cursola. "You think you two are so tough, just because you're Gym Leaders!" She shouted, consoling her crying fiancée. "Well take this! Cursola! Perish Song!"

An eerie, too-slow tune began to drift up from the water. It was in the slow churn of the waves, the pop of the sea soam, and the creak of the ships. Exeggutor shuddered.

Perish song huh? Melody HATED that move, despite having it in Lapras's repertoire she only saved it for only emergencies. "Well then, that's just a sour puss move." she said crossing her arms.
"Oh well looks like we'll just have to make the most of our time! Lapras! Let's make them regret that!" [break][break]

"Lapras! Sparkling aria!" she orders as several orbs of water fly out from the ocean and slam into cursola's body to try and deal some damage to the former water type. [break][break]

"Do you see the partner pokemon anywhere? He didn't send anyone else out so he might be lurking somewhere! Keep your eyes peeled you guys!" she said knowing lapras might be targeted as revenge for knocking out the fiance's pokemon.

Zac kept his eyes peeled for Grapploct. "Maybe it's still in the ship. Sneg! Keep an eye out for escapees!" Sneg waggled his head agreeably. With his multiple heads he was an excellent watchman.

Lapras' attack pelted against Cursola, but the solemn coral just rocked back and forth, taking the hits. It had done its job, and wouldn't give Melody the satisfaction of a good fight.

Sneg made a sound of warning, and Zac saw a flash of purple and yellow swimming through the water towards Lapras. "There! It's coming straight for ya!" he yelled, pointing out the approaching threat.

Grapploct, apparently healed of its paralysis, launched a pummeling assault at Lapras, engaging it in Close Combat with all eight of its fists!
